These days, it seems like you can’t walk down Wilton Drive without hearing someone talking about Alexander Zenoz.
A perfect example of a local guy making good, the Miami native has been charming fans onstage from South Beach to Wilton Manors and beyond for a few years. A charismatic entertainer, known for his riveting live performances, Zenoz was gracious enough to make time for an interview in early 2026 in advance of his upcoming show, “Civil Disobedience,” with his band The Birds of Paradise, at the Gray Box Theater in Wilton Manors on January 10, 2026.

A new performing arts venue is set to hit its stride in 2026. Gray Box Theater (GBT) has a powerful pair of acts scheduled for January and, if your New Year’s resolution is to have more fun, you need to check them out.

Up first is local legend Alexander Zenoz. He just finished up a holiday residency in Provincetown and is starting the new year in style. He and his band, The Birds of Paradise bring their Civil Disobedience show to Gray Box on January 10, 2026 at 8 pm.
“The Birds of Paradise and I are looking forward to bringing a close, honest show filled with the kind of energy a new theater like this inspires,” he said.

Zenoz has become a regular fixture in South Florida’s performing arts community and often pops up along The Drive either solo or with Birds of Paradise.

The Miami native has a strong voice and is honing his acting skills. In September, he starred in Evil Dead the Musical, at the Coral Springs Center for the Arts (The Center), and before that he co-starred in the campy horror flick Big Easy Queens, which streamed on Hulu in June as part of their Pride Month programming.

Zenoz has been associated with Gray Box through the development stage, always showing up to support local artists. Now he’s ready for the GBT spotlight to shine on him.
“As a performer, it’s exciting to be part of a venue created by people who truly understand the value of what we do,” he said.

The son of Cuban immigrants, Alexander Zenoz was born and raised in Miami, Florida. In addition to being a singer and songwriter, he plays the piano and guitar. Zenoz fronts the band Alexander & the Birds of Paradise. His EP Bird’s Eye View is due to drop any day.
But there’s more to Zenoz than just stage presence.
Zenoz comes out fast and hard in support of the drag community. “Drag is an art form of resistance. It has led a revolution,” he said.
Indeed, drag is the soundtrack of the gay rights movement, a movement that has embraced all members of the LGBTQ community.

Over the years, Zenoz has been a supporter of various nonprofits including the Sunshine Pride House, an organization that provides a safe haven for homeless LGBTQ youth.
“I’m really focused on building a platform to help the most vulnerable in the LGBTQ community,” Zenoz said.

Just to make sure that no one is calling him a one-trick pony, Zenoz is also building a career as an actor. So whether he’s reciting the lines others have written or singing his own lyrics, Zenoz is an original.

Alexander Zenoz won Best Musician in this year’s Your Choice Awards. Zenoz has been especially busy this year leading the ArtsUnited Celebrating Diversity series, which kicked off in January with “Alexander and the Birds of Paradise.”

“I created this show, to not only give opportunity, but to give representation. We have people in our cast, who are from all different backgrounds of life,” Zenoz told OutSFL at the time. “[The cast is] representative of the LGBTQ community. They're representative of different races, and religions and ideologies, but always [with a] progressive mentality.”

Zenoz is Cuban-American and was born and raised in Miami. The singer is grateful for the support of OutSFL readers.

“As an artist, I pour my heart and soul into my craft, striving to share the best of what I have with the communities I love,” he said. “Knowing that this love and respect is mutual fills me with gratitude and inspires me to continue following my dreams and creating.”

Next up the singer will soon release an original album “Bird’s Eye View.”

“We’re also excited to be bringing that music to life through future music videos and concerts,” he said.

Being an artist isn’t always easy and Zenoz has faced plenty of obstacles but he never gives up.

“Each setback has taught me valuable lessons, prompting me to pivot and adapt my approach. This journey has not only strengthened my artistry but also deepened my connection to our community,” he said. “I draw inspiration from our shared struggles, and my music reflects that resilience, serving as a testament to the power of perseverance. I hope to inspire others to keep pushing forward, no matter the challenges they face.

"Alexander Zenoz gives his Huntington a gentle disposition and a likability that endears us to him, at least in the beginning. Zenoz’s appropriate acting choices make it obvious why someone would fall in love with Huntington and want to marry him. And credit Zenoz for his choices as Huntington when he gently breaks it to Woods that he is leaving her..."
